City and Guilds 2377 - 01 Course Overview :

City and Guilds 2377 - 01 is the benchmark qualification for anyone who intends to carry out in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment, also known as Portable Appliance Testing. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 state “as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger”.

This course will train personnel that are either asked to schedule, maintain and administer asset registers, or to be asked to carry out visual inspections and instrument tests.

Although there are no pre entry requirements to attend this course, we do recommend that you should have some prior knowledge of electrical theory and principles together with a basic understanding of electrical terminologies.

Who will benefit from this course?

Anyone who is involved in electrical installations, whether they are involved in the domestic, industrial or commercial electrical installation industry, successful candidates will gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Course content:

On completion of the course, participants will understand:
• The current law and the scope of primary legislation
• Types, use and testing of electrical equipment.
• Categories, frequency and practicalities of PAT testing
• Procedures, documentation and user responsibilities
• Appropriate test instruments and how they are used.
• Maintaining asset registers

Assessment:

All candidates are assessed via 45 multiple choice questions – the examination is “Open Book” and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola system – all candidates are given their results at the end of the examination. Total Electrical Training enjoys a 98% success rate in the City & Guilds 2377-11 examination.
