City and Guilds 2377-100/200 In Service Testing and Inspecting of Electrical Equipment Course Overview:
City and Guilds 2377 - 01/02 (Combined Management and Practical) is the benchmark qualification for anyone who intends to carry out the instrument testing of electrical equipment, also known as Portable Appliance Testing. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 state “as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger”.
This City and Guilds 2377 100/200 course will train personnel that are responsible for the managing and scheduling of PAT testing, as well as the actual practical application of portable appliance tests, which includes visual inspections and instrument tests.
There are no pre entry requirements to attend City and Guilds 2377 100/200, we do recommend that you should have some prior knowledge of electrical theory and principles together with a basic understanding of electrical definitions and terminologies.

Anyone who is involved in carrying out a management schedule of electrical equipment and is also carrying out the tests on electrical equipment. Successful candidates will gain a nationally recognised City and Guilds qualification.
Course content:
On completion of the course, participants will understand:
• Electrical Safety in the workplace and elsewhere
• The role of Regulations and the responsibilities of the duty holder
• Insulation and earthing of appliances and equipment
• Classification of appliances
• Preliminary Inspection, pre test precautions
• Using a Portable Appliance Tester
• Required tests
• Optional tests
• labeling of assets and bar coding
• Maintaining the asset register
• Reporting and recording results
• Implementing an electrical test programme
• Practical Assessment of delegates
Assessment:
All candidates are assessed via the two multiple choice 30 and 45 question examination – City and Guilds 2377-100/200 is an “Open Book” examination and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola system – all candidates are given their results at the end of the examination. There is also a separate practical assessment in the use of portable appliance testers.
Total Electrical Training enjoys a 98% success rate in the City & Guilds 2377 examination.
