17th Edition, City and Guilds 2382-20 Course Overview
City and Guilds 2382-20 is the update qualification for all those, including electricians and electrical engineers who already have the 16th Edition qualification, known as City and Guilds 2381. Delegates attending this course have the absolute assurance that the qualification has exactly the same status as the full 17th edition qualification known as City and Guilds 2382-10. Furthermore, the qualification is widely recognised throughout the electrical industry.
Pre-entry requirements to attend this course:
All delegates attending this course will need to provide evidence (usually a copy of a certificate will suffice) that they hold one of the following qualifications:
City and Guilds 2381 (June 2001 or later) City and Guilds 2330 part 07 City and Guilds 2330 part 08 City and Guilds 2360 part 2 (Certified since January 1st 2004)
City and Guilds 2351 only if achieved as part of an Electrotechnical Advanced Apprenticeship completed after January 2004.
We strongly recommend that delegates who wish to attend this course, have an understanding of current electrical definitions and terminologies in use today.

It is particularly relevant to Part P domestic electricians who are still 16th edition certified.
Course content:
On completion of the course, participants will understand:
• The major changes from the 16th edition to the 17th edition
• How the 17th edition numbering system works
• How to navigate through the parts and chapters of regulations
• The 17th edition wiring regulations and it’s relationship with other regulations
• The scope and object and fundamental principles of the Regulations
• The definitions and terms used in the 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations
• Assessment of general characteristics
• Protection for safety
• Selection and erection of equipment
• Inspection and testing
• Special installations or locations
• Appendices
In addition, the course will also describe typical applications and examples of how and where a regulation may be applied.
Assessment:
All candidates are assessed via 30 multiple choice questions – the “open book” examination is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola system – Please note that all candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.

Delegates are required to have the following books:
• Requirements for Electrical Installations IEE Wiring Regulations BS7671:2008BS7671:2008
(this can be purchased when booking your course via our web site).
IEE wiring regulations books taken into examinations can contain the following:
• Bookmarks (eg blank post-it notes or corners of pages folded)
• Highlighting of text
• The Corrigendum, issued by the IEE as a supplement to the wiring regulations in July 2008.
Please note that copies of BS 7671:2008, taken into examinations cannot contain the following:
• Sample exam questions, answers or diagrams
• Any writing in the regulations or accompanying written notes which indicate possible answers within a given section.
• Notes, diagrams or any content that may, in anyway advantage the candidate in answering questions within the examination.
