The award is at Level 3 and has been endorsed by SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for the building services engineering sector.

Delegates who undertake this award and are successful have opportunities to progress on to the following City & Guilds qualifications:

City and Guilds 2395-01 has been designed to replace City and Guilds 2391-10. It should be noted that this City and Guilds 2395-01 qualification is designed to prepare candidates for the processes involved in carrying out periodic inspection of electrical installation work. Furthermore, it references all the changes that were incorporated in BS 7671:2008 (incorporating amendment no 1: 2011), the 17th edition of the IET Wiring Regulations. It is important to note that the 17th Edition Amendment No 1 contains extensive and significant changes.

City and Guilds 2395-01 is aimed at practicing electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going onto other City & Guilds qualifications. The qualification is also suitable for those with limited experience of periodic inspection of electrical installations, such as those entering the industry from other engineering disciplines or who have been working in allied trades.

  • Appropriate procedures for completing safe isolation
  • Health and Safety requirements which apply when inspecting, testing and commissioning electrical installations and circuits
  • The purpose of periodic inspection of electrical installations

Further details regarding the written examination will be released by City & Guilds very shortly.

All City and Guilds 2395 written examinations are known as "dated entry" examinations. This means that as of the time of writing, there are a limited number of specific dates that City and Guilds releases throughout the year, when City and Guilds 2391-20 written examinations can take place. We do advise delegates who book a City and Guilds 2394 course, to check with us when the examination will take place - please be aware that after a certain "cut off" period, which is normally 6 weeks prior to the date of the actual examination, that delegates will be subject to a "late entry examination fee".

All written examination papers are marked by an appointed City and Guilds examiner, with results not normally available for around 8 to 10 weeks - any delays in marking written examination papers is generally outside of our control, however, we will advise you of your result by post and/or e mail as soon as we have been notified.

This course leads to a fully accredited level 3 qualification. At the moment, City and Guilds are only releasing a maximum of 5 examination dates during 2012,  however, this is subject to change at short notice.

Please note that the written examination is a "closed book" examination.

Delegates are required to have 1 copy of the following:

    * The 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations BS7671:2008
    * BS7671:2008 On site Guide
    * Guidance Note 3

All these books can be purchased from our website when you place your booking with us.

We will also be announcing further information regarding this and other awards/courses very shortly.
