This qualification combines all of the elements of Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations.

It is aimed at *experienced* electrical inspectors (including electricians and electrical engineers) who are currently performing inspection, and the full range of single and three-phase electrical testing, and are seeking a qualification that embraces all the disciplines for carrying out Initial verification and Periodic inspection, as well as carrying out a full range of functional electrical tests on both single and three-phase electrical installations.

It is intended for those practising and experienced electricians and electrical engineers who wish to formally demonstrate, with an accredited qualification, their knowledge and abilities in performing both Initial verification and Periodic inspection on single and three-phase electrical installations. The qualification covers all the disciplines of Initial verification and Periodic inspection. It comprehensively covers all the methodologies of testing and inspecting as outlined in BS 7671 (within Part 6) and IET Guidance Note 3.

This combined testing and inspecting qualification will significantly benefit practising, *experienced* electrical inspectors (including electricians and electrical engineers) who wish to provide evidence that they have a thorough understanding of inspection and testing.

The associated training sessions will involve discussion of the following formal Learner Outcomes:

Outcome 1: Understand requirements for inspection and testing

Outcome 2Understand safety management procedures when undertaking inspection and testing

Outcome 3: Understand the requirements for the inspection of electrical installations

Outcome 4: Understand the requirements for testing electrical installations

Outcome 5: Perform inspection and testing of electrical installations

Reference will be made to related publications; including BS 7671, IET Guidance Note 3, and IET On-site Guide, and it is therefore anticipated that candidates are aware of, and understand the navigation of these publications.

All potential candidates should be aware that there will be an expectation that candidates continue their studies inbetween and outside of the training sessions, to aid in preparation for the examinations and assessments - we therefore strongly recommend that candidates are able to navigate the content of BS 7671. Candidates must successfully complete one online multiple-choice examination, comprising of 60 questions - the examination has a maximum duration of 120 minutes.

In addition, candidates must successfully complete a practical assignment; comprising of a visual inspection task and a full Periodic inspection of a three-phase electrical installation, including completion of all appropriate documentation.

The multiple-choice exam and the practical assessments are conducted 'open book;' candidates will be allowed to refer to *clean copies* of IET Guidance Note 3, however all assessments and examinations are robustly Invigilated and are conducted in accordance with EAL regulations and requirements.

Due to the nature of the qualification, it is expected that candidates continue to study, complete written tasks, and review the discussions and training materials at home inbetween the training sessions and days of the training course.
