With the introduction in 2005 of Part P of the Building Regulations, It has been a mandatory requirement, that the certification and notification of all domestic electrical work is carried out by those that are deemed as fully competent and hold an appropriate series of qualifications.
Part P is embodied and fully regulated by law, and places a legal responsibility on any person who carries out any electrical work that is governed under Part P as being notifiable to do so to Local Authority Building Control, A entirely separate scheme operates in Scotland
This EAL. Level 2 Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers - Part P - is a fully recognised qualification, which enables the installer to apply for registration to one of the competent person schemes, otherwise known as Part P scheme providers. These schemes are administered on behalf of Local Authority Building Control by bodies such as the NICEIC, ELECSA, Napit etc; who notify the Building Control on behalf of individual registrant. The person or entity that is registered with a Part P scheme provider is subject to a formal and initial assessment and is also annually assessed by the Part P scheme provider.
The EAL Level 2 Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers course involves an intensive 5 days training program and a series of assessments. The assessments are a combination of practical exercises and multiple choice exam papers, all relating specifically to electrical installations that would normally take place within a domestic premises.
There is one external “on line” multiple choice examination primarily relating to those parts of the Building Regulations that apply to Domestic Electrical Installation.
This course is a full qualification and is aimed at those who are seeking to become compliant with Part P and are also looking to become registered with one of the Part P Scheme providers.

All candidates undertaking this EAL Level 2 Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers are assessed via multiple choice questions – the examination, which is "closed book", is carried out “on line” using the computer based EAL system – all candidates are given their examination results at the end of the examination period.
With Level 2 Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers, there is a series of separate practical assessments, which are carried out at appropriate times during the training sessions.

This EAL Level 2 Domestic Electricians Qualification is fully recognised by all the main Part P scheme providers - however, some Part P scheme providers may require you to hold additional qualifications.
