Every year, around 1,000 accidents at work involving electricity and are reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and tragically, about 30 people die as a direct result of electrocution. This means that every day, three people accidentally come into contact with electricity and that every single month, two people die - the dangers of electricity cannot be minimised, and we at Total Electrical Training have developed an intensive 1 day training course covering electrical safety.
The course deals with and in detail, into wide-ranging guidance on “how to be safe” when dealing with electricity in the workplace. Basic electrical safety when inspecting or dismantling electrical equipment is also covered, as well as safe isolation o0f live supplies. Some underpinning knowledge enabling delegates to safely undertake minor fault finding tasks forms part of this important course, as well appreciating correct safety procedures when dealing with electricity.
Who will benefit from this course:
Anyone who is likely to come into contact with or those that need knowledge of electrical safety in the workplace.
Course Content:
• Electric Shock effects on the Human Body
• Electrical hazards and Personal Protection
• Current Calculations
• Protection for safety including RCD’s and Fuses.
• Electrical Safety in the Workplace
• Electrical Equipment in the workplace
• Safe Isolation
• Complying with the Electricity at Work Regulation 1989
Assessment:
Although this is a non accredited course, we can provide delegates with an optional short examination. All delegates receive a certificate of attendance with successful delegates passing the optional examination, receiving a Total Electrical certificate with a credit towards their next booked course with Total Electrical Training
Other information:
It is expected that delegates have some understanding of electrical system design and we do strongly recommend that prospective candidates are in possession of a successful 17th edition BS 7671 certificate; this is normally evidenced by way of a City and Guilds 2382 qualification. We also suggest that delegates should have some background knowledge of the principles of electrical testing.
